Said and lived by so many, this quote happens to come from British Playwright and Journalist, Dougkas William Jerrold. He said,
“Nature designed us to be of good cheer.”
We are going through some tough times, desperate for some, for some people we know. This is not a conflict on the other side of the globe, although it is there too! It is not a war we don’t feel, a starvation we don’t see, it’s not a refugee relocation. It is happening in our country, our state, our town! Oh my goodness, how do we react now?
Jerrold says Nature designed us to be of good cheer. Perhaps I am a little more relegious than he but I believe that it was God who designed us and has given us reason to be of good cheer. After all, He sent His only begotten Son. So be of good cheer my friend and have confidence that every calamity is in His hands and that our cheerfulness, YOUR cheerfulness, may be the brightest part of someone else’s day. Think about that a moment.
Call someone right now. Or text or email or Zoom or do whatever the kids do today and spread your good cheer to someone who needs it. Drop off a bag of groceries or…call Peapod and have them deliver it. Remember if you keep a smile on your face, people will think…what’s so funny? LOL! Sorry, that is a joke from the Dick Van Dyke show, couldn’t resist. But I’m serious, keep that smile and be cheerful. This won’t go on forever. It’s easy to be cheerful when everything is going your way, it’s not so easy when you’re swimming upstream, in a storm, in the dark.
