Mark Twain needs no introduction from me, because they still teach about him in literature class in school don’t they? The more you read of him, the funnier and wiser he gets. He is even topical right here, right now. He said,
“If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you do read the newspaper, you’re mis-informed.”
No, I don’t mean that everything in the paper is a lie. But I don’t mean that as much as I do for cable news or especially the internet. Have you noticed that cable stations can watch the same news conference, even for something as non-political as coronavirus, and come away with opposite conclusions and talking points? It is really unbelieveable.
So here is my suggestion. Listen to the news often and keep track. If one station or one reporter or one news show is repeatedly erroneous, stop listening to their lies. It will take a little time but you can figure out who is to be trusted and who is not. Listen to the source of the news and then listen to how it is spun. Spin is one thing…lies are another. Philosophy and political viewpoints are two things, lies are lies. Pay attention. If they omit words or alter contexts of the CoVid, they will do it for anything. They will lie to you about anything.
Here is a word of warning, when they see how easy it is to take away some of your rights in the name of (exaggerated) public health concerns…what will they do next? I’m not saying anyone is yet, and I’m not saying this is all exaggerated, but they are watching. So pay attention and don’t believe everything you read. Yes and that includes me. Read. Test the words. Am I reliable or not. While you are trying to figure that out, wash your hands.
