Preparedness is the key to success and victory. Douglas MacArthur

We are coming close to the end of a week of insight from the great American Veteran Military minds and I hope you have enjoyed this. Have you read any speeches from MacArthur? Brilliant guy. #1 in his class at West Point. A General’s general. One of only four Five Star generals in United States history. An accomplished military man obviously, served as U.S Army Chief of Staff and a Philippine Field Marshall between the wars and commanded all allied forces in the Korean War and he also was Military Governor over Japan after WWII. There was considerable talk and support to run for President. If anyone earned it it was Douglas MacArthur and by it, I mean being long-winded. A man of deep, considered and educated thoughts. He was also a man of action, brave, heroic, noble, chivalrous. But it is not easy to find a quote that is short enough for Insta-Gram and sage enough for 240.

So one of the most preparing, thoughtful men in our country’s history says preparedness is necessary for success. Would you propose and argument against that? Of course he thought in terms of victory. He needed to, that was his job, we normally think on terms of success, nice of him to tie them together for us.

So preparedness…preparation is the key. Whether it is regular exercise for performance in a race or game, or education for a plethora of endeavors or rehearsal of music or a speech, the renown Douglas MacArthur believes being prepared is the key. Be prepared! The Boy Scout motto got it right too.

When you get a chance, read about his father also, Arthur MacArthur an accomplished and strong diplomat. Then read about his grandfather…you got it, Arthur. Another accomplished diplomat.

It’s funny, as I’m sitting here a pop up ad appears and it’s tagline is, “preparation is the key to success.” They don’t know who said it or when. It just sounds good. This is what 240 is about, I will bring you great quotes from the great minds of history about; Life and Love and Leadership. You will read history and know great thoughts, not the feel good pablum from “motivational, feel-good, the world revolves around me websites.” Thank you for joining me today and as often as you can and please tell your young managers and students about us. As we close every day I admonish you to Make it a GREAT DAY because it is up to you.
