What did we discuss yesterday? If you read don’t check I’ll remind you. If you didn’t read yesterday, October 3rd, we’ll wait. Go back and take 60 seconds…Are you back? We discussed that all new beginnings usually start at the end of another beginning. We are not on a hamster wheel, we are on a path where someone’s path (or project) ended and if falls to us to pick it up, move it further down the road and end it, or pass it on so the whole thing continues. This is the essence of hotel management.
So today we add the essence of life to our earthly endeavor. Leo Buscalia, an author and motivational speaker, from USC and known as Dr. Love made a name for himself in the 80s and sometimes may have been a bit schmaltzy but right on the money when he says things like,
“What love we’ve been given, we’ll have forever. What love we fail to give, will be lost for all eternity.”
You see, love is eternal. If you have received it, you will always have it. If you gave it away it is not lost because the recipient has it. It’s when you keep it that it is lost. Deep huh?
I might try to tie this with effort at work…you know, your efforts will go on after you leave and everyone will better because you were there. The truth is that at work you are forgotten almost immediately by most, a little slower by others and maybe one or two will remember something about something that a guy did sometime that was pretty smart or funny. Soooo, my point is to focus on love because it is forever and the impact that has on those that come into your life. Again, I don’t mean those you work with necessarily, I mean those that God has truly put in your life. They may be from work, or not. Don’t hide your love away but do not squander your love either, it is too precious. So when it is true, share it. It will be there forever.
That was a little break from work today. Thanks for reading and tell others please, now go Make Today a GREAT DAY!!!
