“Act as if it is impossible to fail.” Dorothea Brande was an American writer from Chicago in the 1st half or the 20th century. She went on to write a best seller about writing and of course move to New York to become an editor.
But she makes the point, as a leader, one is expected to project a certain confidence and competence. This is important because your team gains confidence from you. This is not to be a substitute for knowledge but confidence climbs mountains, builds bridges, sails the seas. Again, you will need knowledge to do those three things but if you don’t believe that you’ll reach the summit, cross the river or find land, you probably won’t.
Since you do not begin a project believing you will fail, you must endeavor to display that confidence and to project it onto your team. Teach them their job and hold them accountable so that they will gain the confidence and competence you possess and model.
Act as if it is impossible to fail. OK, let’s get this day going and Make it a GREAT DAY!!!
