If you think that I am going to try to improve on Mother Teresa, you got another thing coming. My regular readers know that I don’t try to improve or enhance these quotes because they are from the great people and minds of history. I am a candle on a foggy evening, a mile away compared to their Klieg lights. All I seek to do is bring these to you and tie them to business and life and love.

Mother Teresa’s words touch all these things, although I doubt she was thinking of hotels when she spoke them. You know, as your career grows and your status, more people know who you are than you know. In hotels, new employees in other divisions know you and your reputation and believe me, if you do not acknowledge their existence in the back of the house or the lobby, they will take it to heart. You attempt humility, thinking you are not that important. You are. You matter. Your supposed nod to modesty is a sure way for that employee to be snubbed. You may get a do over, but twice?!, now you’re judged.

So would it be so hard to utter a kind word to these people. To the people you don’t know yet, a word of greeting and encouragement coupled with a smile can change a day and as Mother Teresa says, may echo endlessly. I hope you are at the level I describe and I hope you have the mind and heart to listen. Why don’t you echo today.
