After a brief break for Labor Day, we are back at bringing the smartest quotes from the brightest people in history. Did you know Walt Disney had a brother? Roy Disney was a brilliant business man and co-founded The Walt Disney Company. Perhaps he needed a better Public Relations guy because Walt got all the pub. He operated more in the background of his famous brother but was largely responsible for the incredible growth of the Disney Empire.

He ran the business ethically and successfully. He said,

“When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier.”

We spend a whole lot of time discussing ethics and personal ethics especially. We read recently about total transparency in politics and that’s fine but, in business, and in building teams and your management structure, your values need to be able to be scrutinized as well.

Are your values clear to you? To others? My Dad said that your reputation precedes you. One of the smartest things he ever told me and it is just as true for you. Your co-workers, your team, your boss, everyone expects what they already know of you. Your values are reflected in your reputation. Read the August 29th 240 entry from Zig Ziglar about the six characteristics for balanced success.

Are these characteristics; honesty, character, integrity, faith, love and loyalty reflected in your values? This is how Roy Disney lived. Two men in business that lived the highest values and achieved great success. You can too. Build your team so everyone on it can speak of your values. They should make you proud to do what you do.

Time to go do it. Make today a GREAT DAY!
