There is a young Dutch philospher named Alexander Den Heijer who said,

“Stars don’t shine because they want to be seen, they shine because they are stars.”

We usually talk about your people but let’s discuss you. Why do you excel? Is there motivation for success and what that brings? Sure. What else? It is because you excel. You excel because you do. Why do you read 240? Because you want to learn because you are not done excelling. You shine because you are a Star. It’s that simple. You will finish these words and get back to what you do and you will do it well and you will do it tomorrow. Sometimes you think about why but mostly you do it because deep within you, you are compelled to excellence.

Look for those motivations that inspire you. Look for those opportunities to do well. All of that helps. But you shine because you are you. Be You! Be excellent! SHINE!

It is your nature to excel, to shine. If you can shine on others and get them to see their potential, if you can shine your light on them, because that is what you do, you will know what it means to shine. It is a circular argument, accept it. Accept who you are and shine on others. Be the best person and manager and spouse and parent you can be.
