We would like to refer you to May 4th entry. You can find it at http://www.240withbill.com. Please read that first and come back here when you have a moment for follow up commentary. Philo Judaceus said,
‘Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle.”
Since we wrote this, we know there are people that are still fighting the exact same battle, either in their personal life or at work or both! Usually one affects the other. This is meant for you to be aware of the challenges our people face. This relentless battle colors their life, their work performance, their relationships. Yet as their manager, you want their complete attention and best effort.
This is where your patience can make the difference. Not to say that you are not entitled to their best efforts but a good manager is aware of these challenges and can take action. Don’t enable or excuse them but help them focus.
This doesn’t just apply at work but to those people that we encounter on a daily basis. Grocery store clerks, bank tellers, desk clerks, gas station attendants. Some are rude, some are fighting a great battle. Patience my friends. You may not be able to help them as their boss but you don’t have to make it worse. Think of the great battles you face and know that our boss, our team and our family have their own.
Keep this in mind as you head out to Make your GREAT DAY!!!
