I promised Thomas Edison today, but please allow a one day delay to consider the concept of doing right in our personal comportment.
One of the greatest minds in science and history is mostly known for his painting and astronomy but his grasp of the fundamentals of truth in life is undeniable. Leonardo da Vinci said,
“Who sows virtue, reaps honor.”
That is so simple that I can understand it. It means if you do the right thing, good things will come of it. If you live your life with good honest decisions that honor will follow, that you will be be blessed. Shall I find scripture to match, because I’ll bet that I could hold a weekend revival on the subject.
So is he telling us to do virtuous things all the time or just when we’ll get caught? My uncle told me that one definition of a gentleman was that he used a butter knife when no one was looking. Humorous but you get the point. We should, we must do the right thing when no one is looking. THAT is virtue. Live your life and do the right things and you, your efforts will be honored, by your peers, your boss, your family.
At work, every action is scrutinized, every decision weighed, every turn of a phrase or wrinkle of an eyebrow is observed, so do the right things. Keep your motivations and actions pure. That is virtue. That is good. Do the right thing so that honor will follow you, lead you and surround you. If you model that, you will also teach it. Do it. God bless you.
Now get out there and Make Today a GREAT DAY!!!
