Have you given some quiet thought to your purpose? To what do you strive? What are you working for? Why do you pursue success? Will you know it when you achieve it or is it a perpetual goal where the goal line is constantly being moved? Of course you strive to do a good job, a great job! You want recognition and the rewards that come with success. You want to provide for your family and your future. So do you work harder?Longer? Do you take more classes? I mean is all this just for money?

Guess who said this? “Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” Albert Einstein. It would seem that the Theory of Relativity was the result of his attempts to be of value as opposed to attempt to monetize it. That is more than a goal, it is an aspiration. Something to which to aspire. Nobel.

To be of value to your job, your team, your employer, your family is perhaps more difficult to measure because you don’t necessarily have a fatter wallet, a corner office, maybe not even an air conditioned office but knowing that your value is in your presence, your leadership, your guidance may even help you sleep better. To be of value, be honest, be true to what is right and good, do not be duplicitous in order to rise. Be the best that you can be, everyday, exceedingly well with a smile on your face. Be of value.

Now deep breath and get out there and Make today a GREAT DAY!!!
