Aren’t you happiest, on the job, when you have your whole team whipped up into a frenzy, coordinating, kicking ass, taking names and accomplishing your plan. In big organizations like hotels or the military or athletics you will often have the opportunity to speak to a large group about accomplishing a grand objective whether its guest service or a battle or a championship. All are large group goals and need cooperation and leadership. Wouldn’t it be better to cultivate your team as Izaak Walton said,
“Good company on a journey makes the way seem shorter.”
Being an outdoor enthusiast and conservationist he was actually talking about a real journey or camping trip or a hike and who could argue that it is so much better to have good company on a trip? I am speaking metaphorically of course. Develop your team so that they will come along with you on your journey. You can’t accomplish your goals on your own…not is a hotel, not in large organizations, so doesn’t it make sense to have “good company” along the way? They will make the way, to success, seem shorter.
I hope you take this and go back out there and be good company to someone else as you Make the Rest of today a GREAT DAY!!!
