All of you that read this blog, those I have worked with and for, know and understand this concept, put forth by a Dutch “Purposologist,” Alexander Den Heijer,
“Great leaders believe they work for their team. Average leaders believe their team works for them.”
I believe this to my very core. But first, isn’t that a great job title? Purposologist! It’s not in the dictionary yet. I am guessing the meaning is, find a purpose and commit to it. Then, logically, a purposologist would find another. Maybe I’ll be a Purposologist when I grow up.
Today, back to leadership. You my friends, are almost unanimous in how you treat your teams. I know most of you lead from within. You are in the midst of the fray. No one is alone if you are there. Most of you don’t need to learn from this purposologist but you know someone who could use this thought. Do you have a boss who knows he is the boss and wants to make sure that you and everyone else knows he’s the boss? Maybe too late for that guy without an act of God. But you have many younger managers who could use this concept and would benefit from regularly reading this blog. Share this. It will reinforce your example. Thanks for reading. Tell your friends.
Now get back out there and Make it a GREAT DAY!!!
