Mark Twain defined forgiveness in about the most beautiful way I can recall. He said,

“Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heel that has crushed it.”

As I see it, the moment the violet is crushed, it bestows forgiveness in the form of it’s most beautiful, precious gift, the fragrance of a violet, on the very thing that has killed it. This is forgiveness come alive. How can we comprehend the gift of forgiveness? It exists, in all of its beauty, in the heart of the beholder. Forgiveness is there in the moment of the offense. As it is hurt, it forgives. As Christ died, He forgave. How can we, as mere mortals, not flowers, not the King of the universe, comprehend the grace of forgiveness? It is our calling. To forgive is truly divine. Besides you, who needs forgiveness today?

I hope you will take this and Make Today, a Great Day!
