Yesterday we spoke of automobile magnate Walter P. Chrysler. Today let’s quote one of his contemporaries, Henry Ford. Did you know he founded Ford Motor Company. I know! What a coincidence! Known for so much but especially for perfecting the assembly line. He was a no nonsense kinda guy but not big on employee stuff, but he knew it so he hired professionals because he knew the strength of the company did not rely on production standards alone, his people were foremost on his mind. (Personal note: he tried to hire my great uncle to run his corporate Human Resources department. However, he declined and stayed with Crane Plumbing of Chicago.) However, from his production/business side he said,
“Don’t find fault, find a remedy.”
Well…maybe that is employee centric as well. Don’t find fault in an employee when they err, determine responsibility and how to handle a particular situation in the future, but finding fault is a tremendously negative experience, for both sides.
You are the leader, you are the remedy. Be it. Do it. Now, it falls to you to get back out there and Make the rest of today a ridiculously amazing day!
