8th century BC Greek Poet, Hesiod wrote what can be applied today on the job and at home. For those of you who run departments or groups of people that must accomplish every day. Those that must improve everyday either for financial gain or Guest Service scores, think for what a Greek poet from almost 3000 years ago said,

“If you add a little to a little, and do this often, soon the little will become Great.”

This brings us back to what we discussed a few weeks ago about taking time everyday to plan your tomorrow. It’s vital at work but it applies to home life and family too. What little steps can you take daily as a person, a manager of people, an employee, a parent… which small steps can you take and then build on them tomorrow? Are you training teams for the summer rush, do you have a project or deadline looming? You need to plan. It’s said in baseball that you can’t hit a five-run home run, so you have to take small steps, play small ball, take a walk, get someone on base, bunt, hit the gap, get closer and maybe a home run later. So too you must build on the small steps of training until their accumulation becomes great, just like YOU!

Make tomorrow’s plan today, take small steps to your goal and don’t stop. Now get back out there and Make today a GREAT DAY!!!
