Please accept my daily invitation for a motivational break, a shot in the arm, a deep breath.

My name is Bill Peterson and I have met many people and learned many things in my 41 years in the hospitality industry.

Those of you that know me, also know that I am no one special. I’m a normal guy that has learned some truths of Love, Life and Leadership.

My mission, is to share them with you, one a day, right when you could use it.

So what is 240?

Back in the day, it meant you were fast or you had better be fast. If you were in a hurry…you were going 240 or you might say, “I have to go 240 to get my work done today.” The origin of the phrase varies. Some say it was the fastest time possible for a particular horse race or it might have been the speed of a particular bomber in WWII.

But we shall use it as a quick moment or to re-center oneself in a moment or a quick moment with Bill.

SO I will share these truths 240, every day. Maybe at 2:40 PM, when you are slowing down, so take a 240 break and then, get back to it, refreshed.

So I have assembled these truths over the years and they have given me strength, perspective, perseverance, patience and so much more. They are not the wise sayings of Bill Peterson but some accumulated wisdom of the ages.

Read them. They may apply to you now…today, in the past or right around the corner. I will note the author and when you get a chance, look them up. Learn what else they have written. See if they know what they’re talking about and if it applies to you.

Remember, just because someone got something right in their life doesn’t mean that you can trust them 100%. Just because you may know or be familiar with or disagree with a person or their politics or religion doesn’t mean they can’t get something right. Find truth where it is. Is it consistent? Is it trustworthy? Is it an exception, a “one-off?” For example, you wouldn’t take Al Capone’s advice for much of anything but he was right when he said, “Never bring a knife to a gunfight.” Actually, he may not have said that or he was one of a million guys who have, but you get the point.

So please come back and join me every day.

Let me start this very first 240 with one of my personal favorites from one of the world’s foremost philosophers, Teddy Pendergrass, (that’s my humor for those of you that don’t know me well yet) who wrote a song titled,

Life is a Song worth singing…why don’t you…Sing it.

Every day is a gift. Read this again… (OK, here it comes…the very first 240 Pop)

Check out Johnny Mathis’ version (my favorite) here

YOUR life is a Song worth singing…why don’t you…SING IT!!!

now get back to work and

make the rest of today a Great Day.
